Gardenmorris Estate Weddings – A French-Style Escape in the Heart of Waterford

Garden wedding at Gardenmorris Estate

A Hidden Gem in the Waterford Countryside

Tucked away just outside the village of Kill, Gardenmorris Estate is one of Waterford’s most breathtaking and exclusive new wedding venues. Owned by the Queally family, this sprawling estate features manicured gardens, courtyards, a serene lake, and a French-style chateau that radiates elegance and old-world charm.

I photographed my first wedding here this year, and it immediately became one of my favourites. Every direction you look feels like a painting — soft light on old stone, reflections on the lake, the greenhouse glinting through the trees. It’s a dream setting for couples who want something natural yet sophisticated.

Virginia & Eric’s Wedding – A Love Story in Motion

Virginia and Eric’s wedding at Gardenmorris was filled with warmth, personality, and connection — a celebration that perfectly reflected who theidey are. Virginia, a yoga teacher, brought a beautiful sense of calm and mindfulness to the day, while Eric, a carpenter and lover of the outdoors, added an earthy, grounded energy. Together, they share a love of nature and simplicity, and it showed in every detail.

Virginia arrived in a vintage 1920s Ford Model car, driven by her dad and uncle, both members of the Freewheelers Motorcycle Club — a moment full of nostalgia and pride. Later, she shared portraits with her dad on his old Harley-Davidson — the same bike he’s owned since she was a baby, and the one he and her mum rode away on after their own wedding.

On the day, the greenhouse saved us from a sudden shower, and we nipped inside for portraits. It turned out to be one of the highlights of the day — the light, reflections, and tropical greenery made it an unforgettable setting for natural, joyful images.

Their ceremony, held on the lawns by the lake and backed by soft Irish light, felt timeless. With passing around rose-quartz hearts and a hand-fasting led by a yoga-trained celebrant, the day was personal, spiritual, and full of meaning.

The Greenhouse – A Light-Filled Dream Space

For couples who love the outdoors but want a sheltered option, Gardenmorris’s greenhouse is one of the most stunning ceremony and portrait spaces in Ireland. Attached to the main house, it’s flooded with natural light, surrounded by greenery, and designed with elegant architectural detail.

It’s the perfect space for creative portraits — or a beautiful backup plan if a shower passes through. For photographers, it’s a dream: soft, flattering light, layered reflections, and a bright, natural atmosphere that never disappoints.

Signature Photo Spots Across the Estate

There are a hundred — if not a thousand — places to shoot at Gardenmorris. Everywhere you turn, there’s another beautiful frame waiting to happen.

Some favourites include:

  • The red bridge crossing to the little island — perfect for romantic portraits and reflections.

  • The courtyard, full of character and charm.

  • The greenhouse, for creative portraits (or if you get a shower!).

  • The lakeside, with its peaceful reflections and dreamy golden-hour light.

  • The tree-lined avenue, ideal for arrivals or couple walks.

Every couple brings their own story to Gardenmorris, and the estate gives back with endless possibilities for timeless, cinematic imagery.

A Venue That Feels Like Home

What stands out about Gardenmorris is the warmth and authenticity that runs through the whole estate. It’s a private family-run property, lovingly restored by the Queally family, and it truly feels like a home — elegant, welcoming, and deeply personal.

Because it’s exclusive-use, your wedding day feels intimate and relaxed. You and your guests have full run of the gardens, courtyards, and house — creating a flow that’s effortless and full of heart.

Photographing at Gardenmorris Estate

As a wedding photographer, Gardenmorris ticks all the boxes — natural light, character, variety, and emotion. Whether the ceremony is

outdoors by the lake or inside the greenhouse, the environment is stunning from every angle.

In Virginia and Eric’s case, the vintage car arrival, the portraits with her dad on his old Harley, and the red bridge moment all came together to tell their story. For me, these are the moments that go beyond formality — they capture the heart of the day.
